Introduction
Thailand is currently facing severe heavy rainfall and widespread flooding caused by a strong low-pressure system stalled over the lower central region, including Bangkok and its metropolitan area. As of September 27, 2026, more than 21 provinces nationwide have already been affected. Central and Western Regions

High-risk provinces: Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Suphanburi, Nakhon Sawan, and Uthai Thani.
Main risks: flash floods, landslides, and inundation in low-lying areas.
Chao Phraya Dam increasing discharge to handle upstream water inflows.
Eastern Region

Sa Kaeo: Six districts flooded, reservoirs exceeding 121% capacity.

Lower Northeastern Region

Nakhon Ratchasima (Pak Chong): Flash floods from Khao Yai inundated economic zones, water levels up to 50 cm.

Meteorological Department forecasts stalled storms shifting toward the central region, reducing rainfall in Bangkok to moderate levels, but western and eastern provinces remain at risk.
Chao Phraya River basin (Chainat, Singburi, Ang Thong) must prepare for rising water levels due to dam discharge.
Lower northeastern provinces (Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram) remain at risk of flash floods and inundation over the next 1–2 days.
Experts confirm that the 2026 floods are not as severe as the 2011 Great Flood, but localized areas such as Nong Chok, Lat Krabang, Sa Kaeo, and Prachinburi may experience more intense impacts due to different disaster patterns.
